LOS ANGELES -- The 2016 American Music Awards are just two days away and dozens of artists are preparing to perform and present awards.

Co-host Jay Pharoah said being a part of the special night on Sunday means a lot to him.

"It's not picked by some stiffs behind closed doors. It's picked for the people, and I think that means more because your fans make you and elevate you at times when you are down and low," he said. "And I think the fact that the people get the choice to vote, that just makes the award even more heartfelt."

Model Gigi Hadid, who is also hosting the award show, has a list of celebrities she's excited to watch perform live.

"I'm a huge fan of Ariana Grande's music, and so I'm really excited to see her. Also, Chainsmokers - I've never seen them perform, so I'm very excited for that...And Sting, it's amazing that he's performing at the AMAs," she said.

On Friday, vocal duo The Chainsmokers were seen rehearsing with singer Halsey at the Microsoft Theater in preparation for the big night. They are just some of several artists expected to perform.

Viewers will also see on stage Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony, Lady Gaga, Green Day, John Legend, Shawn Mendes, Twenty One Pilots and Maroon 5 with Kendrick Lamar.

Watch the 2016 American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. PST on ABC.
