Rather than go with a traditional "save the date" for their wedding, one couple turned their announcement into an epic, action-filled adventure.

Tyler MacNiven and Kelly Hennigan are getting married in a few months, but two weeks ago some thugs stole an important wedding document, the video explains. Determined to get it back, the couple crawled out of the ocean, raced up cliffs and planted an explosive.

It was all part of an operation. An operation to save...the date.

MacNiven said he and his fiancee started tossing the idea around when were on a run together.

"We love a good pun so both decided (while on a run on the cliffs in the video) to make a mission impossible style action video which involved saving a date," he told ABC.

MacNiven said the video is a glimpse of the excitement guests can expect at the wedding.

"Instead of a cake cutting, we're going to have the traditional Cake Explosion, where we blow up a giant wedding cake (like in the video)," he said. "They'll [sic] be a few other secret hijinks that will require guests sign a liability waiver upon arrival."

The couple lives in San Francisco, where MacNiven owns a restaurant and Hennigan is finishing up a Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience at Stanford.
