SAN LEANDRO, Calif. -- A San Leandro man has been convicted of eight felony counts for sexually abusing his daughter over a seven-year period, prosecutors said.

An Alameda County Superior Court jury returned its verdict against 36-year-old Francisco Dominguez late last week, finding him guilty of lewd and lascivious acts, oral copulation and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

Prosecutor Samantha Kim said Dominguez's daughter was only eight years old when the sexual abuse began in 2004 and was 14 when it ended in 2011.

Dominguez was arrested the next year, in 2012, after his daughter reported the abuse to San Leandro police, prosecutors said.

Dominguez faces a term of 53 years to life in state prison when he is sentenced by Judge Roy Hashimoto on June 2.
