What's in a name? Apparently the letter "A" if that name happens to be one of the most popular for kids these days.

With the year winding down, parenting website BabyCenter has released its annual list of the most popular baby names. Sophia and Jackson once again topped the list; it's the second consecutive year that Jackson has been the most popular boy's name, it is the fifth straight year parents have most commonly named their baby girls Sophia.

Top 10 Names for Girls

  1. Sophia
  2. Emma
  3. Olivia
  4. Ava
  5. Isabella
  6. Mia
  7. Zoe
  8. Lily

Top 10 Names for Boys

The lists includes several newcomers this year, with Madelyn breaking into the Top 10 for girls and Caden and Logan for boys.

Not surprisingly, movies and television continue to influence parents looking for that perfect name. During the height of Twilight's popularity, Bella and Edward were frequently in the Top 10; now names from the movie 'Frozen' and projects from producer Shonda Rimes are gaining popularity. The name Elsa rose 29 percent on the list list of names for baby girls. Olivia remains in the Top 10 for girls and Fitzgerald rose 56 percent for boys.

If you're a parent looking for names with meaning as well as those that sound nice, "Sophia" comes from the Greek for "wisdom," while "Jackson" has transitioned from a last name to a first name.
