VIDEO: Soldier dad returns from Afghanistan to surprise kids at camp

A day at one child's summer camp turned into a family reunion in Connecticut, and this one was more than a year in the making.

Nine-year-old Ethan Christensen was called to the Camp Indian Valley stage in Ellington to help out with a magic act, during which he was given a military hat.

Little did he know, he'd be handing that hat to his hero.

Major Timothy Christensen, a member of the Army reserves who has spent the last 13 months in Afghanistan, came out to surprise his son.

He also surprised his 11-year-old daughter Emily, who was at the same summer camp.

Sometimes all it takes to bring a family together is a little magic.
