A Canadian advocacy group wants people to stop using homophobic expressions and it's spreading the message with an unusual fashion statement - a sweater made entirely of human hair.

Every last bit, down to the rainbow colored buttons, came from the heads of people from across Canada.

The hair was donated by members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Designers say the goal is to get people to stop using the word "gay" in a negative way.

"Oh, my gosh, that is so gay. That shoe is so gay. A sweater is so gay. And we thought, 'Wouldn't it be cool if the sweater was gay?'" Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity's Jeremy Dias said.

The sweater, designed by the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity, is making its debut at Toronto Fashion Week and will travel to schools, businesses and museums across the county.
