SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Villa Romana restaurant is calling it quits after 60 years of serving some of the best linguini and clams in San Francisco.

Antonio Accardo opened the Italian restaurant with his wife Giulia in 1955. Back then, it was one of only a few restaurants on Irving Street.

Both Antonio and Giulia are in their seventies and they decided it was time to retire.

The family says it will miss their regular customers. Antonio Accardo Jr. says many of the restaurant's visitors are repeat customers that have been coming since the beginning and now bring their families and grandchildren.

The restaurant will stay open until Sunday night. The owners say they will keep serving food until all the customers are gone.
