He borrowed a friend's truck to follow the suspect and pulled up alongside on Hayward Blvd.

Luckily the suspect missed. Jetton called 9-1-1, giving Hayward police the suspect's location.

Police say their officers saw the suspect fleeing the area in the victims truck.

The suspect crashed into several vehicles as he fled the area resulting in one minor injury to a motorist. At one point, the suspect drove toward officers which resulted in one officer firing at the suspect however the suspect was not struck or injured.

The suspect crashed the stolen truck and ran away on foot but was located and taken it to custody.

His name has not yet been released.

Neighbors say another vehicle was stolen from the same area last week.
