Adopted daughter perfect match for father's kidney transplant
We don't always know it or understand why, but there are reasons people are brought into our lives.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- We don't always know it or understand why, but there are reasons people are brought into our lives.

Larry Hicks and his wife adopted their daughter Brandi when she was 6 months old. Now, 30 years later, she will give him her kidney, WKRN-TV reports.

"She tested twice, and she was a perfect match," Larry Hicks said.

Hicks' kidney problems started in 2011.

There were precious moments before the two went to surgery where Larry would get one of Brandi's kidneys. They shared their memories, love and gratitude.

"My dad! He's the best, I guess you can say," Brandi said.

For Brandi -- naturally there's a feeling of fear, of the unknown. But her willingness to help her father is far and away stronger.

"There's a bunch of stuff going through my brain," she said. "I just hope he gets to feel a lot better than what he feels now."

Brandi says her father always provided everything she could've wanted; it's a trait she clearly picked up along the way.
