DALLAS, Texas -- The condition of an Ebola patient in Dallas is worsening. His family wonders if doctors are doing everything they can to treat him, so are Texas lawmakers.

Texas state lawmakers are scrutinizing how medical officials handled the first confirmed U.S. case of Ebola at a Dallas hospital while assessing Texas' overall preparedness for coping with the virus and other dangerous diseases.

A special hearing of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee convenes Tuesday at the Texas Capitol. Meanwhile, Gov. Rick Perry has created a 17-member task force of health, military, emergency response and public education officials to ensure Texas properly responds to infectious diseases like Ebola.

Meantime, the parents of another U.S. Ebola patient remain hopeful after their son was transferred to a new treatment facility Monday.
