Look around. Does it seem like a lot of people are wearing red today? They are joining thousands of others around the country to raise awareness for women's heart health.

The American Heart Association started National Wear Red Day to spread the word that heart disease is 80 percent preventable, although 1 in three woman die each year from heart disease and stroke.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease can be prevented by making healthy lifestyle choices like exercising, eating right and not smoking.
