The nation's largest pediatrician group now confirms what teenagers have been saying for years -- school starts too early.
The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending that middle and high schools start classes at 8:30 a.m. or later.
The group says it would be an effective way to fight chronic sleep loss and what it calls the "epidemic" of insufficient, and erratic sleep patterns among the nation's teens.
Pediatricians say teens need eight and a half to nine and a half hours of sleep each night.
