SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- The South Bay is seeing its first case of that mysterious virus that's been hitting young people especially hard.

The Santa Clara County Health Department says the case of enterovirus was confirmed through laboratory testing. The virus can cause severe wheezing and difficulty breathing in some patients.

Health officials will only say that this patient is under the age of 18 and has been released from the hospital in good condition.

There have been a half dozen other enterovirus cases in the Bay Area.
