ABC7 News was in Walnut Creek as AAA unveiled a new trailer that it purchased for The Crayon Initiative.

The nonprofit donates newly recycled crayons to children in local hospitals and art therapy programs.

Danville resident Bryan Ware is the man behind the effort. He says it's his way to spread some color and joy to children who need it the most.

"So the hardest part was actually figuring out where they would go and we would process them," he said. "But we've figured that out along the way and as we've grown it's snowballing so it's doing a great job."

So far, 2,500 packs of specially designed crayons have been given to five hospitals
