Bay Area man can spot which old toys are valuable
If you have old dolls, toy cars or theme park souvenirs, they might be worth something. One Bay Area man can tell which ones are actually valuable.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- If you have old dolls, action figures, toy cars or theme park souvenirs, they might be worth something.

One Bay Area man knows the trash from the treasure and he's doling out cold, hard cash.

Joel McGee played with Creepy Crawlers when he was a kid. "Toys were actually fun back in the day instead of having a video screen," he said.

It's those memories that drive the business of toy collecting.

However, some collections get out of hand and along the way, there are bound to be some surprises. Seemingly identical items can have wildly different values based on what factory they came from, or what condition they're in.

A toy buying event will be at the San Jose Courtyard Marriott at 1727 Technology Drive, Friday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
