Planning officials in Placer County are asking a Northern California couple to downsize their deluxe treehouse.

GRANITE BAY, Calif. (KGO) -- Planning officials are asking a Northern California couple to downsize their deluxe tree house.

The Sacramento Bee got a tour of the 500-square-foot treehouse in Placer County and posted the video of it on Facebook.

The house features a full kitchen and bathroom, but the Placer County Planning Department says the kitchen and mattress must go because the family already has a full guest cottage on their property.

The treehouse owners haven't said yet what they plan to do.

A noted national treehouse designer built it for more than $60,000.
