1 person injured, 12 vehicles damaged in carport fire

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- A two-alarm blaze injured one person and damaged 12 vehicles in a carport in Mountain View Saturday evening, fire officials said.

Around 5:15 p.m. fire officials reported via Twitter that a fire was burning in a carport near the intersection of Latham Street and Rengstorff Avenue, about a block from West El Camino Real.

One person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said.

Seven vehicles were completely burned and five vehicles sustained minor to moderate damage. Fire officials said an apartment unit sustained smoke damage and adjacent car wash equipment also sustained moderate damage.

Mountain View fire officials reported around 7 p.m. that the fire was under control and that no firefighters were injured during the blaze.

A fire investigator remains on scene working to determine the cause and origin of the blaze, fire officials said via Twitter.
