4 displaced, 3 cats killed in Livermore fire

LIVERMORE, Calif. -- A kitchen fire at a residence in Livermore displaced a family of four Friday.

Firefighters with the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded at 2:59 p.m. to a residence on Wimbledon Lane on a report of a kitchen fire.

Responding firefighters arrived at the residence to find it heavily involved in fire.

Crews were able to contain fire, but half the residence was destroyed by the blaze, firefighters said. Other areas of the home sustained heavy smoke damage.

Three cats were killed in the blaze, according to the fire department.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital for injuries suffered while fighting the fire. The firefighter has since been released from the hospital.
