ABC7 News spoke to musician Chris Isaak who will perform on Saturday night at Super Bowl City.

"It's a big deal," Isaak said.

Isaak, who lives in San Francisco, says he and his band have been doing something they rarely do - rehearse.

"We actually came here and we had rehearsals every day, getting ready for this because we want to be good. It's the Super Bowl, you've got to be good!" Isaak said.

Finishing touches were put on Super Bowl City Friday night. It's a giant fan village at the foot of Market Street that features everything football.

Locals like lani and Dolores Jaramillo plan to check it out this weekend.

"It looks pretty. I like the lights. We'll see what happens once everybody else gets into town," Jaramillo said.

Hundreds of thousands fans are expected. There are four security checkpoint entrances with metal detectors that will be set up around the village.

Inside, you'll find gourmet food and drink and unusual stuff like a thing called "Sugar Cubes". It's an interactive exhibit of art and technology. If you pedal the stationary bike, the cubes will dance.

"We designed a custom iPad app that people will be able to use and cause the structure to move," Charles Green from Symmetry Labs said.

Restaurants like OSHA Thai, are adding extra staff this week, but forget about getting a reservation.

"We're pretty much booked already," restaurant manager Boom Wanvisa said.

Traffic around Super Bowl City was horrible during the Friday afternoon commute. Detours on Battery Street were pure gridlock.

"We have been here one hour and 10 minutes," Modesto resident Neil Duran said, while stuck in traffic.

Folks are being urged to use public transportation for the next week.

And as far as Super Bowl predictions go, Isaak had a doozy. He said, "I'm predicting the 49ers to come in there at the last minute and steal this one. You just never know, do you?!"
