Police made the discovery of her body at noon Saturday, but are not releasing any further information until they hold a press conference on Monday.
The people who live at the home said Aguilar left the birthday party with her boyfriend unharmed.
ABC7 News spoke with Aguilar's mother named Marisol Lesio y Capito who lives in Rosarito, Mexico by phone. She said the police have only communicated with her other daughter who lives in San Jose.
On Sunday, a few people gathered at a strip mall in Hayward to help with what they thought was an ongoing search. "I thought there would be a few hundred people, I remember news reports of another lady who disappeared in Hayward about five or six years ago and there was a large contingent of people out," search volunteer David Guard said.
Aguilar's mother thanked the volunteers by phone just before the search was abruptly called off.
Police have not shared any information about where Aguilar's body was found or any suspects in this homicide investigation.
The cause of Stacey Aguilar's death is yet to be determined pending an autopsy that will be conducted by the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau, according to Hayward police.
On Friday, police said they were investigating her disappearance as a homicide.
