Sheets of rain and wind gusts took down tree branches in Half Moon Bay. Winds kicked up to 48 miles per hour in some parts along the coast, which caused power outages and triggered other emergencies.

PACIFICA, Calif. (KGO) -- Sheets of rain and wind gusts took down tree branches in Half Moon Bay.

Fire crews cleared a snapped tension line in one neighborhood.

Winds kicked up to 48 miles per hour in some parts along the coast, which caused power outages and triggered other emergencies.

A large part of El Granada near Pillar Point Harbor went dark, including an Indian restaurant that had to finish the business day by flashlight.

Residents Peter Bland and Nancy West took shelter at the local sea food house near the pier where there was still power.

"We're doing fine. We did a lot of work to the house to make sure it was safe anyway," said West.

The two flags blowing in the wind at the Harbor Master's station are a couple warnings for boaters.

The first pennant is a small craft weather advisory. The second is a gail force wind warning.

Traffic along the coast was at a crawl at some points in the afternoon.

In Pacifica, shoppers were walloped by the winds as they walked out of the supermarket.
