Suspect arrested in connection with Santa Rosa burglary

A suspect was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a commercial burglary in Santa Rosa.

David Harrison, 43, of Santa Rosa, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, vandalism and violation of probation, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Officers responded at 12:42 a.m. to a report of a possible burglary in progress at a business on North Dutton Avenue.

Police said a security officer for the business noticed a man inside a business suite that was supposed to be vacant.

The suspect fled the business, but officers located him, detained him and responded to the business to see if a crime had occurred, police said.

A search of the business revealed it had been accessed through the roof, and it appeared the suspect, identified as Harrison, had scaled a tree and accessed the business through a hatch in the roof, police said.

Police said it appeared Harrison had been staying in the vacant business building.

A large amount of copper wire had also been stripped from inside the business, and it sustained extensive damage and significant loss due to theft, police said.
