PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A person was hit by a Caltrain in Palo Alto Friday afternoon and has resulted in service disruptions, transit agency officials said.

Northbound Caltrain No. 155 struck a pedestrian on the tracks near Palo Alto Avenue around 3 p.m., Caltrain officials said on Twitter.

The pedestrian has been transported to Stanford Hospital but information on the severity of their injuries or condition wasn't immediately available, Caltrain spokesperson Jayme Ackemann said.

No trains have been allowed to travel on the tracks in the area while the transit bureau at the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office investigates the incident, she said.

The involved train remains at the scene and no other trains have been allowed to travel through the area, Ackemann said.

The involved train will be moving to the Palo Alto station where passengers will be released, agency officials said.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is providing a bus bridge for passengers between the Menlo Park, Palo Alto and California Avenue stations, agency officials said.
