Burlingame police are asking for help in finding three men caught on camera robbing a popular donut shop early Monday morning.

BURLINGAME, Calif. (KGO) -- Burlingame police need help finding three men who robbed a popular donut shop early Monday morning. It was a particularly violent confrontation and it was all caught on surveillance video.

The robbery happened at the Royal Donut Shop. It's known to a lot of people because it's located at the Caltrain station a block from Burlingame High School and the Burlingame Avenue shopping district.

Surveillance video released by police shows a man in a black baseball cap come in and place an order. Then two accomplices rush in. One in a gray sweatshirt jumped over the counter and held a gun to the clerk's face as they argued.

In the meantime, the other two unplugged the ATM and carried it out the front door with an unknown amount of cash. They did not take any money from the cash register.

In the video, you see the robber in gray continue to attack the clerk. At one point he tried to tie the clerk up with an apron and then he beat the clerk with an ice scoop.

Eventually the three robbers left and the clerk called police.

He suffered facial injuries and was taken to the hospital, but will be fine.

Police say the only gun brandished at the scene was dropped and it turned out to be a fake.

They're still looking for the trio.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Burlingame police.
