Everybody knows the Golden State Warriors' slogan, Strength in Numbers. But a local restaurant owner has her own expression, Strength in Waffles, because she believes her food is helping the Dubs win.

It's not the kind of fancy place where you might think celebrities would dine. But Brown Sugar Kitchen in West Oakland has become a destination since it opened in 2008.

And now it's been discovered by Warriors players like Harrison Barnes. "Brown Sugar Kitchen is one of the best places I've ever been," he said.

French-trained chef Tanya Holland whips up elevated soul food. She's been featured in Oprah's magazine, the New York Times, and on several national TV shows. Chicken and waffles is her specialty dish.

ABC7 News spoke exclusively with Golden State Warriors President Rick Welts who revealed the wild success behind the slogan "Strength in Numbers saying: "It's become a way of life, and a way of winning.

And it's the go-to choice for Barnes, who has told his teammates, including Festus Ezeli and Andre Iguodala about this spot.

Now they're customers, too. "These guys could go anywhere and they are selecting to have our food and eat with us, so that feels really great," said Holland.

"Tanya is great. I love going in there. She's got a lot of personality and keeps the place super fun and active," Barnes said.

ABC7 News caught up with Barnes at the Warriors practice facility on Monday morning. With the deciding Game 7 on the line, Holland believes not only is there Strength in Numbers, there's Strength in Waffles. "Because I swear Harrison played very well a couple days after he came here and ate some waffles and Festus," She said.

She says Harrison was there Friday. So hopefully, that'll help him and help the team win on Monday night.
