Wounded warriors compete in Valor Games in Alameda

Athletes participate in the Valor Games on Coast Guard Island in Alameda, Calif., on June 3, 2016.

More than a hundred wounded warriors from across the country are on Coast Guard Island in Alameda competing in the Valor Games.

I-Team reporter Dan Noyes emceed the opening ceremonies Friday afternoon.

The veterans and active duty service members with disabilities will participate in Olympic style events all weekend.

The athletes tell us it's important for them to compete.

"I just want them to realize that just because something's happened to you, just because your arms amputated or whatever's happened to you, you can still drives towards something," said athlete Larry Green.

Spectators had to undergo a screening process, which is now closed. If you're interested in supporting our wounded warriors, think about attending the Valor Games next year.
