ANTIOCH, Calif. (KGO) -- If your recreation takes you outdoors on Monday, watch out. Parts of the Bay Area will see temperatures soaring into triple digits.

The hottest spot to be is Antioch. "I'd like a happy medium. It would be nice. 80s would be great," resident Cathy Boisvert said.

The East Bay is sizzling on this summer day. In Walnut Creek, it was already 65 degrees at 7:40 a.m. on Monday.

Some people at the Heather Farms tennis court met two hours earlier than usual to play. "We're out to beat the heat. We don't like to play in it so we come out here early at 8, club opens at 8," Walnut Creek resident Elinor Axup said.

They all brought water and took rests.

"Unfortunately, there's no shade out here, so it's hard to do. But you know, you make do," she said.

Swimmers cooled off in the pool and parents dropped off their kids at day camp.

"We are basically trying to stay hydrated. She's going to camp today but I gave her a bottle of water in her backpack," Walnut Creek resident Walter Biddick said.

Back in Antioch, people flocked to any water they could find. "Lots of pool. If we can't do something to keep cool, then inside in the air conditioning," Boisvert said.

If you do go outside on Monday, don't forget to drink plenty of water and put on your sunscreen because the sun is beating down.
