Two male victims were shot, one fatally, near San Jose State University this afternoon.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Two male victims were shot, one fatally, inside a car near San Jose State University's Greek row Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded at 2:11 p.m. to the area of South 11th and East San Antonio streets on a report of a shooting. They arrived to find the two victims, who were each shot at least once, San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.

The victims were taken to a hospital where one succumbed to his injuries a short time later, Garcia said.

"We found multiple shots in the area. The vehicle was hit with several rounds," said San Jose police Lt. Ed Pedreira.

Police believe the shooter was inside another vehicle when opening fire.

No arrests have been made in the case and no suspect information was immediately available. Police do not believe the shooting is connected to the nearby fraternities.

This is San Jose's 24th homicide of the year. This time last year the city had 10 homicides.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department's homicide unit at (408) 277-5283. People wishing to remain anonymous can also call (408) 947-7867.
