PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- Police are searching for a man who they say exposed himself to a 12-year-old girl. It happened in Palo Alto on Wednesday when she was just out walking her dog.

Police say if they're able to produce a sketch of the suspect, they will try to get it done as soon as possible.

She was walking in the 2200 block of Louis Road near California Road just after 1:40 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota or Honda, stopped next to her.

She made eye contact with the driver and noticed he was masturbating.

She immediately took out her cellphone. The suspect then said, "I'm sorry," and drove off.

The girl went home, told her parents and her parents called police.

Investigators are looking at other cases to see if there is a connection.

Police say the victim and the parents did what they were supposed to do - be alert and call 911 immediately.
