SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- One person was taken to a hospital as a precaution after a small hazardous materials spill this morning at South San Francisco pharmaceutical company Genentech, city fire officials said.

Paramedics were called at 11:15 a.m. to assist an emergency team at Genentech and to transport the person to a hospital from the company offices at 1 DNA Way.

Fire officials said the spill is contained, no one appears to be injured and there is no threat to public safety.

Fire officials would not say what spilled because it is a company product.
