SF officials say child dies after being pinned by car
Officials say a child who sustained traumatic injuries after being pinned by a vehicle in San Francisco's Bayview District has died.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Officials say a child was killed while playing on a car in San Francisco's Bayview District. Police are calling it an accident.

The little boy was found trapped between a car and a structure beam and pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital.

Police say he was playing inside or next to a minivan when somehow the car starting rolling forward, trapping him. A neighbor told me the car had been damaged a few days ago and was parked inside carport for the time being. Police think the car was unlocked.

"There was an unoccupied car that was parked," said SFPD Captain Raj Vaswani. "The child was near the vehicle. The vehicle moved and the child made contact with a pole and the vehicle and was trapped between the two."

Neighbors believe he was playing alone. We believe his parents were at work, but quickly came home when they heard what happened.

Investigators are talking to people in the area who tried to come to his rescue. Police will also take footage from video surveillance cameras in the area, to get a better picture of what happened.
