MILLBRAE, Calif. (KGO) -- A civil rights education program held a hugely successful summer celebration in Millbrae on Saturday.

Sojourn to the Past teaches young people about the civil rights movement in America.

Lisa McNair was a guest of honor. Her sister was one of the four African American girls killed in the 1963 bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

"We're seeing a lot of the things happen, a lot of the hate, a lot of the anger, a lot of the same hate verbiage that was used back then being used very prominently in our country today by some of our leading people," said McNair.

McNair says if we don't know about our history we are destined to repeat it.
