ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (KGO) --Eighty-three trees in Sonoma County are at risk of being chopped down. They line Country Club Drive in Rohnert Park.
The city council is making a decision Tuesday night.
The honey locust trees might have seemed like a good idea when a developer planted them 45 years ago, but now they're old, dying. Shedding and when the city council votes to replace them tonight it will be decidedly non-controversial.
Without a last-ditch effort to save these trees the council will replace them with Chinese maples.
The project will take three years and cost $41,000 from an account funded by developers and residents. Watch the video for Wayne Freedman's full report.
