San Jose police seek suspect in theft of $10K worth of tools

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose police need the public's help in solving a well-orchestrated crime. A burglar, or burglars, got away with $10,000 worth of tools, but, the homeowners had a camera rolling.

San Jose police have video of the man they say who burglarized a North San Jose home.

The homeowners don't want to be identified, but they described what happened around 4 a.m. on June 7 as they and their two children slept.

"They broke this window, and then they lift the door and sneak under there and went back there," said a burglary victim.

The man went through the garage, cut a lock on a side gate and then cut power to the house.

From there, he stole $10,000 worth of tools belonging to a contractor working on the house and a mountain bike belonging to the homeowners' 13-year-old son.

But the material losses are not the worst part. Their 9-year-old daughter was traumatized.

"It took a couple of days for my daughter to settle back to normal. She was scared to go into the garage after that and not go in any room by herself," a burglary victim said.

It's been a hard time for the whole family.

"It's scary, if they'd come inside? I don't know what's gonna happen to us or my family," said one of teh burglary victims.

Police say the man appears to be in his mid-30s and is 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds. If you recognize him, call police. There could be a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
