Suspect arrested after hitting Antioch cop with stolen car
Just after 3 p.m. Antioch police located a stolen Mercedes Benz parked on Plymouth Lane with a suspect getting into the car.

ANTIOCH, Calif. (KGO) -- Just after 3 p.m. Antioch police located a stolen Mercedes Benz parked on Plymouth Lane with a suspect getting into the car.

The suspect is Ryan Kary, 27, out of Lafayette.

Officers converged on the vehicle and attempted to take Kary into custody. While ordering Kary out of the car, he put the car in reverse and struck an cop, who was out of his vehicle.

The officer drew his firearm and fired shots into the vehicle.

With the Mercedes now backed into the cop car, Kary indicated he was giving up. Kary was pulled from the vehicle and further resisted being taken into custody.

After a brief struggle, Kary was taken into custody without further incident.

Kary was treated and released on scene for minor injuries sustained during his struggle with officers.

The officer struck by the vehicle Kary was driving showed no immediate sign of injury. Nobody was struck by the gunshots.

Kary will be booked into the Contra Costa County Jail on charges that include auto theft and assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.

This case is still under investigation.
