SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- We've partnered with the team at Hoodline - the hyperlocal neighborhood website - to bring you what's new and happening this weekend in San Francisco.

Beer lovers listen up because it's time for Oktoberfest. A big kick off to the German tradition is happening this weekend.

Schroeder's Restaurant takes claim as the West Coast's oldest German restaurant and originally opened its doors in 1893.

It sits right in the heart of the Financial District. Schroeder's first location was knocked down in the 1903 earthquake and then made its way to its current setting. The place recently got a remodel so you won't find sticky floors, but pay attention to the walls with some great murals that are decades old. "We're kicking off Oktoberfest on Friday, so it's a huge block party. For five weeks, we'll have live bands on Saturdays," Schroeder's Restaurant employee Crizel Fernandez said.

The block party starts at 3 p.m. Friday and will block off Front Street from California to Sacramento streets.

The headline band is Polkalicious and there will be 22 beers on tap.

If you want to avoid the Lederhosen, then how about superhero gear instead? The 7th Annual Superhero Street Fair is this Saturday.

The event will be held on Indiana Street next to the Islais Creek Channel, just south of the Dogpatch neighborhood.

There will be seven stages with music, live performances, LED light art, boardwalk food and drinks.

Tickets range from $10 to $50.
