A resident says it all started just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

"I heard bang. Five shots. Real loud. I knew it was a gun. Then all of a sudden I heard a woman screaming bloody murder," said neighbor Mary Grogan.

"As soon as I heard the shots, I slipped up on the edge of the bed and looked out on the street and saw a car escaping down the street," said neighbor Stan Grogan.

Their neighbor had just arrived home and was accosted by two men in her drive way.

They opened fire on her - and then started shooting at her husband as he looked out the front door to see what was happening.

Police say the woman suffered minor cuts from the broken glass of her shot out car windows. Her husband was uninjured.

The detective on this case said he's trying to see if this is connected to a series of other's in the East Bay.

According to an advisory published by the Lafayette police department, the Pinole case and a Monday attack on a couple in Orinda are similar to a violent car-jacking in Danville and robberies in Antioch and Pittsburg.

The most recent was in Brentwood. The teenage victim was robbed as she arrived home Friday night.

"As she was opening her driver side door, two males approached her wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, dark pants. both men pointed handguns at her and demanded her property,"

It's not clear if the same two men are responsible for all these crimes. Police are hoping the public can help with any information.
