SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The simmering anger over the fatal shooting of Mario Woods by San Francisco police continued as Gwen Woods, Mario's mother, confronted a police official and accused the department of treating her son as less than human.

Ms. Woods choked up recalling how her 26-year-old son was gunned by police last December.

He was a stabbing suspect. The victim's mother says what happened to her son was an execution.

Police fired several rounds, they say, as Woods was ordered to drop his knife and refused.

His mother's pain is shared by other families mourning the deaths of young black and Latino men.

"Gascon needs to come out of the office, stop playing and charge the police with the murder of Mario woods," said Elaine Brown, the Black Panther Chairwoman, speaking of George Gascon is the District Attorney of San Francisco.

An anonymous viewer has given ABC7 News video showing the fatal police shooting of a homeless man in San Francisco's Mission District.

Earlier in the day, there was a legal step forward for the family of Luis Gongora

"We filed a federal civil rights lawsuit today, in order to bring the family the justice that it deserves. Six months ago, Gongora was shot and killed by San Francisco police," explained Adante Pointer, the Gongora family civil attorney.

Police claim he lunged at them with a knife while under the influence of meth. The civil suit says his body was riddled with bullets.

"We intend to uncover the facts, and make the facts available to the public," said Pointer.

Back at the Hall of Justice, the protesters took their cries inside, demanding a meeting with D.A. Gascon.

The assistant district attorney came out to listen.
