San Ramon police have arrested two young men and two juveniles in the vicious beating of a man who was only trying to keep the peace in his neighborhood.

Casey Pletz is recovering after he was nearly beaten to death outside his home after confronting a group of guys who were disturbing the neighborhood.

"His feet, his knees, his hands, his face, there's lacerations everywhere. Black eyes, fractured nose, fractured cheek, bruises all over his kidney and his back," said Casey's dad Dave Pletz said

Dave Pletz is grateful his son is alive. The 23-year-old professional snowboarder went outside his house on pebble place last Friday around midnight to tell some guys to be quiet.

Other neighbors had already called police saying the young men were screaming obscenities. Before officers could get there the men attacked Casey, beating him unconscious.

Jennifer Schulze is one of the neighbors who called police. She says it was another neighbor who stopped the attack and saved Casey Pletz's life.

"They were stomping on his head and kicking him in the back and so I firmly believe that had he not come out, they would have killed him," Schulze said.

Police have arrested four people, 20-year-old Zachary Kennedy of Danville, 19-year-old Jordan Manibusan of San Ramon and two 17-years-olds who live in San Ramon.

"They are facing assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery causing great bodily injury," said San Ramon police Sgt. Patrick Cerruti.

A shocking crime in a neighborhood police say is very safe, a place Casey calls home.

"He respects and loves this neighborhood and the people in it and all he wanted to do was get them to leave," Pletz said.

Neighbors believe the suspects were using drugs or alcohol. Police are still investigating.
