SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- A somber memorial was held Saturday night for Alameda County Sheriff's Explorer Karla Ramirez-Segoviano in San Leandro. Karla was found dead Thursday at Arroyo Viejo Park in Oakland.

The special remembrance of Karla was put together by her fellow sheriff's department explorers; many of them still trying to understand what happened.

"We're still all in shock, we didn't expect this to happen to Karla, she was one of the most squared away people I knew," said Jorge Loza, explorer.

Following a few words by the more senior explorers and deputy cadets, the group lined up to offer their condolences to Karla's parents. After such a difficult couple of days, her family welcomed the effort.

"We appreciate the support, and just, thank you for being here for us, thank you very much," said Cesar Ramirez, uncle.

The 21-year-old went missing Wednesday night. Her body was found at Arroyo Viejo Park Thursday in Oakland. On Friday, Oakland police investigators announced they had detained two people in connection to her brutal murder; she had been beaten, stabbed and burned. Investigators wouldn't give details about a motive behind this crime.

The Alameda County District attorney's office has not released the name of the two suspects in this case, but ABC7 News talked with a guy who used to work with Karla at an Oakland fast food restaurant.

He says he also knows one of the accused.

"I know the girl actually, she used to work with us at KFC, and it kind of shocks me because how can a co-worker do that to another co-worker you know," said Jorge Zamora, victim's friend.

He said the former co-worker is a woman named Laura Rodgers. According to the Alameda County sheriff's department she has been booked into the Santa Rita Jail, charged with murder.
