South Bay principal in hot water after using expletive to denounce President-elect Trump at rally

MILPITAS, Calif. (KGO) -- A South Bay high school principal is in trouble because of something he said at a student rally today ABC seven news reporter Katie Marzullo is live at Milpitas high school.

Students walked out of class in protest of president elect Donald Trump. They gathered on the football field and the principal facilitated a discussion. Some say the principal said too much.

A student posted video on her Snapchat and another showed it to ABC7 News. The new principal at Milpitas High School, Phil Morales, egged on by students, used an expletive to denounce President-elect Donald Trump. Some students say it's no big deal.

"He shouldn't be in trouble or anything for that because it was his opinion and he should be able to say what his opinion is," said Taylor Hunt, a student.

"He was sharing his opinion, but I think it's bad because he's a principal and he can get kicked out," said Naidelin Sanjuan.

The San Jose Mercury News is reporting a morale us has been placed on administrative leave.

"You just don't say that to kids that are very vulnerable," said junior Zachary Garmany, a student. "He should be teaching everyone to unite as one not divide us even more than we already are."

Garmany did not attend the rally and was astonished at what he saw on Snapchat.

His mom agrees.

"Not all of us voted for the same person and that's OK. But once that person is now here we should've been taking that time today to teach them tolerance, to teach them we need to unite together," Garmany said.

The Milpitas School District did not respond to requests for an interview. ABC7 News reached out to principal Morales as well.
