OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- ABC7 has partnered with Bay Area food banks the last 25-years to help feed our communities with our annual Give Where You Live Thanksgiving food drive.

ABC7s Give Where You Live Thanksgiving food drive is our way of helping all seven Bay Area food banks serve the 840,000 people in need of food each month. That number actually increased from 780,000 last year.

On Monday, ABC7 News weather anchor Spencer Christian presented the Alameda County Community Food Bank with a $15,000 donation from ABC7 and our parent company Disney.

The Alameda County Community Food Bank's mobile pantry distributed food to a couple hundred families Monday afternoon. "This is going to go a long way, it will provide 34,000 to low-income residents throughout Alameda County," Alameda County Community Food Bank executive director Suzan Bateson said.

If you'd like to help, text the word FEED to number 80077 to donate $10 to Bay Area food banks. When prompted, reply with YES to confirm the donation and have it added to your phone bill.
