The Raiders may have played far away in Mexico City, but in the Bay Area, behind the scenes, there's a flurry of activity to keep the team from moving to Las Vegas.

As proudly portrayed on the cover of Sports Illustrated, Ray Perez is Dr.Death, the embodiment of Raider Nation, fighting desperately to keep their team in Oakland.

"Mark thinks we're going to pick up and go wherever he goes and that's not the case," said Perez. "I'm very confident in the next few weeks the city and the county are going to come together with Ronnie Lott and his group and present a viable, responsible plan."

But Mark Davis pledges his allegiance to Las Vegas, which has committed an unprecedented $750 million in public funds to create a new Raiders stadium in Oakland.

Former Raider and 49er Ronnie Lott says not so fast. Sources say Lott is close to signing a term sheet with the city of Oakland and Alameda County to either lease or sell the the current Coliseum property, clearing the way for he and his group to negotiate directly with the Raiders.

The NFL owners could vote on the Raiders proposed move to Las Vegas in January.
