SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Four hundred year old books stolen from Italy turned up in the Bay Area this week.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports someone took the books from Italy's Historical National Library of Agriculture over the past few years.

United States Customs and Immigration Enforcement office says the Bay Area buyer had no idea the books were stolen.

The priceless books, along with other stolen artifacts, will be returned to the Italian government.
