Fatal crash impacting westbound I-580 in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The CHP is investigating a fatal crash that happened on Interstate 580 just before Harrison in Oakland early this morning.

All westbound lanes were closed for a short time and have since reopened, but traffic is still heavily impacted in the area.

The CHP says an investigation is underway to figure out why a driver got out of their car in the middle of the lanes. That person was hit by a minivan and killed. Another driver was also involved in the crash.
