PLEASANTON, Calif. (KGO) -- The California Highway Patrol was investigating a crash in Pleasanton that killed a man early Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. on the northbound lanes of I-680 near Stoneridge Drive.

Officers say the driver lost control of the vehicle before hitting the center divider, and being ejected from the car.

A driver on the other side of the freeway stopped to help, but another car hit that driver who was not hurt.

It's unclear if speed or alcohol were involved in the first crash.

The far left lane was closed while officers investigate.
