Anniversary event held for first public school in California

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- An event to mark the anniversary of the founding of the first public school in California was held in San Francisco on Monday.

This event included the launch of a campaign called Make Your Name to address high chronic absenteeism by black students in advance of mandatory state tests this month.
