Tree falls into Oakland home during storm
A family narrowly escaped injury when giant trees came crashing down on their home in Oakland's Montclair neighborhood late Friday night.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- An East Bay family narrowly escaped injury when giant trees came crashing down on their home overnight.

It happened in the Montclair neighborhood of Oakland on Woodhaven Way, leaving the family shaken up. "It's scary. I coulda been sitting right there," resident Dheanon Livingston said, referring to where the large eucalyptus trees crashed onto his deck and living room overnight.

Another tree took out the bathroom, laundry room and most of the ceiling. The trees narrowly missed Livingston's infant relative. "My little nephew was laying down with my aunt in bed. Two trees fell between them," he said.

The extent of the damage was not immediately clear. Dheanon hopes the home can be repaired once the trees are removed.

PG&E crews planned to check the area for downed power lines.
