SUV slams into medical building in San Jose, driver flees scene

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- An SUV slammed into the side of building in San Jose overnight. The vehicle clipped one tree and ran over another before slamming into the side a medical building at Regional Medical Center at N. Jackson Ave. and Mather Drive.

San Jose police say the accident happened at 1 a.m. The driver fled the scene.

Witnesses said there was nobody in the building at the time of the accident.

The building is being inspected to make sure it is safe.

There is no word if workers will be allowed to return to the building today.
