SAN RAMON, Calif. (KGO) -- More express lanes are about to debut on I-680 between San Ramon and Walnut Creek.

Interstate 680 will be getting faster this summer. But not everyone likes the idea. The signs are up and are being tested. These fast lanes are located between Walnut Creek and San Ramon. Drivers will pay a toll if they want to hop into this lane and avoid traffic.

The cost depends on how congested the freeway is, since it is based on demand they can't predict what it will cost, but express lanes already in place on Interstate 580 are costing drivers around a $1.60 for a 15 mile drive.

The hope is to make these express lanes available by August.
